Waqf Board pure land mafia?


Delving into the origins of the Waqf Board takes us as far back as the Delhi Sultanate era. However, the Waqf as a formal institution began to take shape with the enactment of the Muslim Waqf Act in 1923. Later, under Nehru’s leadership, the Central Waqf Council was established in 1954. In 1995, a decentralization process further expanded its influence, and by 2013, during the UPA government led by Sonia Gandhi, the Waqf Board was endowed with extensive powers.
